Public Notice: Drain Day 2026
MORROWFEN DRAINAGE COMMITTEE
PUBLIC NOTICE
Take notice that the seventy-ninth annual Drain Day will be held on the Saturday nearest 14 February in the year 2027, that is to say the thirteenth day of February 2027.
The proceedings will begin with the Morrowfen Silence at noon at the war memorial on the Common, and will continue with a parade to the pumping station, where speeches will be made by the Mayor and the Chair of the Drainage Committee.
An evening gathering will be held at the Bell & Sluice from nineteen hours, to which all ratepayers and residents are invited.

A note on the Morrowfen Silence: it has been observed since 1948, on the Saturday nearest 14 February, in remembrance of the Great Flood of 1947. The exact date of the flood’s receding is not recorded.
